As a 4th generation Alpine resident, educator, and youth program director, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of local children and their families every year. I even attended school in the district myself. Through founding and operating Stoney Oaks Ranch and leading large-scale youth leadership programs in Alpine and East County, I have spent years building hands-on, character-focused experiences that help young people grow in confidence, responsibility, and grit.
These experiences have given me a clear understanding of what children need to thrive: structure, encouragement, accountability, and opportunities to discover who they can become. I have seen firsthand how powerful it is when families, educators, and mentors work together. I have also seen the challenges many parents face when they feel unheard or left out of important decisions that impact their child.
I believe parents should always know what their children are being taught, and they should be at the forefront of decisions regarding their child’s education. Families are a child’s first and most important teachers. Strong schools honor that partnership with transparency, open communication, and respect for the values of the community they serve.
I am running for school board because I want Alpine schools to promote academic excellence, character development, and responsible stewardship of resources, while strengthening the partnership between parents and educators. Every child, regardless of background, ability, or learning style, deserves a safe environment, engaged teachers, and programs that support their whole development.
I will bring to the board:
• Extensive experience working directly with children ages 4–17 in structured, educational environments
• A proven record of managing large youth programs, staff teams, and community partnerships
• A strong understanding of child development, leadership training, and hands-on learning models
• A parent-first approach built on listening, transparency, and practical problem-solving
Alpine is a special place to raise a family. I am committed to protecting that, strengthening our schools, and ensuring our students have every opportunity to grow into confident, capable young adults.
Together, we can build schools that reflect the values of our community and put kids and parents first.

Angie May is a multifaceted professional, educator, and community leader and local business owner, with more than twenty years of experience in business operations, youth programming, event management, and equine education. As a 4th generation Alpine resident, Angela has dedicated her career to helping children build confidence, leadership skills, and character through both traditional and innovative learning environments.
Angie is the founder and director of Stoney Oaks Ranch, a 10-acre equestrian education facility she established in 2018. She manages the year-round care of more than 70 animals—including 30 horses—and oversees all operational, instructional, and curriculum creation of all educational programs. Under her leadership, Stoney Oaks Ranch has become a valued community hub serving hundreds of Alpine families through homeschool programs, riding clubs, youth camps, and leadership clinics. Each year she coordinates large-scale summer programs that welcome nearly 300 children, teaching horsemanship, teamwork, responsibility, and outdoor education. Her programs emphasize safety, skill development, compassion, mentorship, and strong family partnerships, values she believes should be woven into every level of a child’s education.
In addition to her work in youth development, Angie serves as a current member of the Alpine Community Planning Group, where she contributes to land-use discussions, community safety considerations, and long-term planning for Alpine’s growth. Her participation reflects her commitment to civic responsibility, transparent decision-making, and being an active voice for Alpine residents. This public service role strengthens her understanding of policy, community needs, and local governance—experience she will bring directly to the Alpine Union School District Governing Board.
Angie also designs and manages complex off-site educational experiences such as mountain trail rides, beach rides, Christian school camps, and multi-day equestrian camping trips. These events require extensive logistical coordination, risk mitigation, transportation planning, and regulatory oversight—skills that directly translate to the strategic, detail-oriented work of a school board trustee. She leads teams of staff and volunteers, manages budgets, negotiates contracts, and communicates daily with dozens of parents, demonstrating her ability to work collaboratively and transparently with the families she serves.
Before launching Stoney Oaks Ranch, Angela spent more than a decade in leadership roles at National University, where she coordinated large-scale commencement ceremonies, supervised staff, ensured academic compliance, and supported students through graduation and financial aid processes. Her early career also includes work as an Accountant for Jack in the Box, Inc., where she managed multimillion-dollar pre-opening budgets, licensing, and regulatory requirements for more than 1,200 corporate locations. Her analytical background, paired with her operational leadership, gives her a strong foundation in budgeting, policy review, and organizational oversight.
Angie brings a deep belief in parental involvement and curriculum transparency. She is committed to ensuring that parents remain at the forefront of decisions affecting their children and that families always know what their children are being taught. With years of direct interaction with hundreds of local parents, she has listened closely to their concerns, hopes, and goals for their children’s education—insights that uniquely position her to represent Alpine families with clarity and compassion.
In addition to her professional experience, Angie continues to advance her training in the equine and youth-development fields, including certifications in Equine-Assisted Learning and specialized training in colt starting and liberty horsemanship. Her work emphasizes leadership, communication, grit, responsibility, and personal growth, qualities she believes every child deserves the opportunity to develop.
As a candidate for the Alpine Union School District Governing Board, Angie is committed to strengthening the partnership between families, teachers, and the district; advocating for fiscal responsibility; supporting high-quality academic standards; and ensuring that every child in Alpine has access to safe, empowering, and engaging learning environments. Whether in classrooms or on horseback, Angie has dedicated her life to building confident, capable, community-minded young people, and she is ready to bring that dedication to the Alpine school board.
